Hatha Yoga
Description / Notes: All levels welcome. The style of yoga that I teach is known as hatha flow yoga, which is hatha yoga mixed with vinyasa flow. Hatha yoga, the heart of the practice, is where all forms of yoga posture practice stem from. In hatha, the postures, (known as 'asanas' in Sanskrit), are each held in stillness for a certain length of time. 'Vinyasa' means movement and flow that is co-ordinated with the breath, adding fluidity to the practice and keeping muscles and limbs flexible and relaxed. We warm up with a sequence of movements, known as the Sun/Moon Salutations, which are a series of vinyasa movements (lots of different postures linked together). The warm-up sequences flow with the breath and can take anything from five minutes to an hour, or beyond, depending on time available and personal preference for your practice. Also, we can concentrate on certain sections from the salutations to help deepen and solidify the practice, bringing deeper awareness to the body, breath, positioning and alignment. The yoga asanas can vary each session, with a general underlying method of flowing from top to toe. The resulting feeling that remains can be likened to taking an internal shower from top to toe, leaving you completely energised, detoxified and re-vitalised. Teacher Info Map
