Profile

My classes will focus on Asana (Posture) Practice and awareness of the breath in union with this: Classes are FRIENDLY, RELAXED and GOOD HUMOURED!! With no expectations of ability or anything else... We will use a combination of Energising, Relaxing and Meditative postures in order to create the most space and energy in our body. Pranayama- Deeply cleansing breathwork is also used as part of the class. All levels of ability are welcome and catered for. Your body is unique and so is your ability. Yoga aims to further your connection with your body in order to release muscles and tension AT YOUR OWN PACE, not to force your body into a position. Using Asanas to explore areas of the body that hold onto tension, stress, pain and weakness - for when we are aware enough to feel these areas then we can help our body to deeply Energise, Reactivate and Nourish them. We release tension through use of our breath, consequently relaxing those muscles. Prana, our Vital Force and Life Energy, is channelled through our body, guided by our breath. Through conscious awareness of our breath we can place our attention in particular areas, to increase Prana and blood flow. This in turn, nourishes the area, allowing release of tension, relaxing the muscles and at the same time releasing the mind from its focus on that area = freeing up trapped energy and creating refreshed energy! My particular take on yoga is HONESTY AND FUN!! There’s nothing quite like smiling to send relaxed signals through the body, so my classes –as well as focusing the mind inward, makes sure it retains a smile as it goes! We are all in various stages of process, and at various stages of progression in our yoga practice. This needs to be worked with rather than forced. I have been a Yoga Practitioner for over 10 years and qualified to teach last year with Swami Santhi Prahanistad in Kerala, India. I am Qualified at level 2 (RYS 500) to teach and have experience teaching on a one to one basis as well as in group situations. I am a qualified teacher, and able to give you advice on problem areas. Modifications can be used for most poses depending on your ability.
