Profile

In 2001, after a period of illness which had prevented me from my regular form of exercise, I was fortunate enough to discover Yoga. Having always been a gym type of person, I found fresh and deep challenges through this wonderful and liberating discipline. These were not just physical, but spiritual and emotional. I was soon practicing daily, and attending as many classes as I possibly could. Through my own practice, Yoga was changing me on every level. It was in 2006, that I felt I wanted to be able to pass on this life changing, and liberating discipline to others. I qualified as a Yoga Teacher at Shanti Yoga School (Nottingham) in that year, and am currently running 9 weekly classes, within the Nottingham and Leicester area, from village halls to Health Clubs. These classes run for 90 minutes, with much emphesis on alignment and time within each posture, to explore the Asana. Some pranyama is taught, along with meditation and philosophy. I also have many one to one clients, including premiership and international footballers, professional dancers, MS sufferers and stressed out highflyers ! I have developed and implemented new Yoga programmes, working with the sports science dept of Premiership football clubs, where I hold regular classes and use applied yoga, for injury prevention and rehabilitaion. My own personal practice is very much reflected within my teaching style. I don\'t conform to any particular type of Hatha Yoga, but it is very ecclectic, and uses many principles of the main Hatha styles. I take time to adjust and nurture my students, giving them that all important time within the postures, to listen and be prompted from within. I also hold the following qualifications. Yoga Alliance, 500 hour Teacher Training diploma (RYT 500) VTCT Diploma- Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology (QCF) (501/1873/0) Thai Yoga Massage Practitioner level (TTYMA)(CThA)
